Curtorim Gymkhana secured their place in the semifinals of the 49th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Don Bosco Oratory via a tiebreaker. The match, held at Chandor, ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The first half was relatively uneventful, with Don Bosco Oratory taking the lead in the 17th minute. Elroy Barreto scored for Don Bosco with a well-placed long shot from midfield, beating the Curtorim goalkeeper. Despite Curtorim Gymkhana's efforts to equalise, their two attempts were comfortably saved by Don Bosco's young goalkeeper, Acton Barbosa. The score remained 1-0 in favour of Don Bosco at halftime.
The second half saw a more dynamic game, with both teams increasing their urgency. Curtorim Gymkhana found their equaliser in the 54th minute when Milagres Fernandes connected with a long cross to score, making it 1-1.
With neither team able to break the deadlock before the final whistle, the match was decided by a tiebreaker. In the shootout, Rhay Dias, Maldino Rodrigues, Ryan Fernandes, and Anselm Fernandes scored for Curtorim Gymkhana, while Alfred Noronha, Hanslum Furtado, and Edgar Noronha scored for Don Bosco.
Curtorim Gymkhana’s goalkeeper, Johnson Bhagat, was named Man of the Match for his crucial role in the tiebreaker. He received his award from Chandor Club President Basil Fernandes.
