MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Cana Benaulim SC to advance to the next round of the 43rd Gold Silver Rolling Trophy football tournament, organized by Navelim Sporting Club, held at the Rosary Church ground on Wednesday.
The first half was marked by urgency from both teams as they sought to break the deadlock, but neither side could find the back of the net, leaving the score at 0-0 at halftime.
The second half saw a flurry of action, with Curtorim Gymkhana scoring two quick goals. Rhay Dias opened the scoring in the 54th minute, followed shortly by Veron Fernandes, who found the net in the 57th minute.
Cana Benaulim SC responded in the 67th minute when Jozwan managed to reduce the deficit, but it wasn't enough to secure an equalizer, and Curtorim held on for the win.
