Curtorim Gymkhana emerged victorious in the 23rd Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial Tournament, organized by the Associacao Academica de Majorda Utorda Calata at Musson Grounds, Majorda. A crucial first-half goal secured their win against Dicarpale Sports Club.
The match's only goal came when Ryan Fernandes delivered a precise cross from the right, which Veron Fernandes skillfully flicked to Gilbert Fernandes. Gilbert then executed a left-footed shot that found the back of the net, leaving Dicarpale’s goalkeeper, Francisco Colaco, with no chance.
Dicarpale quickly countered, with William Niasso’s attempt being deflected for a corner. Curtorim had a chance to double their lead from a free kick, but substitute Fredy Hilario's effort went wide. Despite Dicarpale’s pressure and multiple attempts to equalize, they were thwarted by a solid performance from Curtorim goalkeeper Johnson Bhagut.
Curtorim Gymkhana received a prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy, while Dicarpale Sports Club were awarded Rs 40,000.
The chief guest for the event, Abhay Bhamaikar, President of the Goans Hockey Association, along with guest of honour John Gonsalves, President of the Lions Club Nuvem-Verna, distributed the prizes to the winners.
