Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda thrashed Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 and moved into the quarter-finals of the 6th Martins Cup organised by Betalbatim Sports Club at panchayat ground, Betalbatim on Sunday.
Don Bosco attacked from the word go with the combination of Francisco Andrade, Cliff Barreto and Wedly pouring forward. They missed an opportunity in the first quarter to take the lead.
On the other hand, Curtorim Gymkhana went on the defensive. In the 25th minute, Francisco Andrade's left-footer missed the target by a whisker. The half time score was 0-0. In the second half, Don Bosco brought in fresh legs and it made a difference as they took control of the game and outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana in all departments, scoring three goals through Francisco Andrade in 38th minute, Hanslum Furtado in the 44th minute and Alfred Noronha in the 49th minute.
Hanslum of Don Bosco was adjudged as the Man of the Match and received the prize from Simon Costa, a football lover from Betalbatim.
Kavya blitz sinks UC Telaulim
A four-goal blitz from Kavya Katkar helped Curtorim Gymkhana rout United Club of Telaulim 7-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA Second Division League at Don Bosco Oratory Ground, Fatorda on Sunday.
In the 15th minute, Kavya Katkar slipped the ball past the onrushing keeper to find the net and break the deadlock. A minute later, Joswan Cardozo inflated the tally in the 16th minute. The momentum continued for Curtorim Gymkha in the second half, as they aimed to extend their lead and secure a decisive victory.
After going close to scoring in the last couple of games, Kavya scored in the 58th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 69th minute. In relentless pursuit of goals, Kavya punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 76th minute.
Two minutes later, Foley Dias added his name on the scorers' list. Telaulim's Ansteino Furtado scored the consolation goal for them. Meanwhile, Joaslee Fernandes fired the last goal for the winners in the 82nd minute.
Jayden nets winner for South Goa Utd
South Goa United Club of Sports and Culture beat Sesa Football Academy 1-0 in the GFA Under-15 Division I league at Sinquetim Sports Complex, Navelim on Sunday. Both the teams displayed an attacking brand of soccer. As the match progressed, South Goa United took over the reins and Jayden Pinto struck the match-winner.
