Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Fatorda moved into the semifinal after beating St Anthony Assolda 2-0 in the Curtorim Villagers Cup 2023 at Curtorim ground on Tuesday. Clencio Pinto scored in the 7th minute with a powerful shot to put Don Bosco 1-0 ahead. Assolda were unlucky when Valentino Carvalho shot hit the crossbar and came back to Viton Fernandes whose header also hit the crossbar and went out of play. In the second half, Fatorda doubled its lead through Clive Miranda in the 45th minute after receiving a pass from Hanslum Furtado.
Mormugao United beat Betalbatim SC 2-0
MARGAO: Mormugao United beat Betalbatim SC 2-0 to move into the quarterfinal of the 31st St Rock Super Soccer at Calata Majorda ground on Tuesday. Bevan Fernandes and Stalon Lucas netted a goal each for Mormugao United in the 5th and 56th minutes respectively to hand their side a comfortable victory.
Margao SC dump Nerul SC 5-3 via tiebreaker
MARGAO: Margao SC prevailed over Nerul SC 5-3 via tiebreaker and moved into the quarterfinal of the Our Lady of Assumption Cup organised by Sarzora SC at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim on Tuesday. Nerul SC netted two quick goals through Akash and Ramsley in the 8th and 19th minute respectively. Margao SC fought back with two goals from Florian Vaz and Bryan in the 22nd and 62nd minutes. In the tiebreaker, Margao SC netted through Sheridan, Agnelo and Joylex, while for Nerul SC, only Aniket managed to find the net.
All-India Open Scrabble C'ships from April 21-23
PANAJI: Scrabble Association of Goa will be hosting the 17th edition of the All-India Open Scrabble Championships from April 21 to 23 at the Caculo Mall's Terminal Banquets in the capital city. The marathon 24 games per player format will be followed over the three days of the tournament and the Collins Scrabble Words 21 (CSW21) and world scrabble governing body (WESPA) rules will be followed. Besides players from the host State, Goa, scrabblers from Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Kerala, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai will be seen unleashing their word power during the tournament. Entry fee for Scrabble Association of India (SAI) members is Rs 4000 and for non-SAI members, it is Rs 4500.
