MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over SCC Loutolim in the Anil Kamat Memorial Tournament, organised by Enfermos Sports Club, at Chinchinim Church ground.
The match kicked off with intensity, both sides creating early chances. In the 10th minute, Hanslum Furtado of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda fired the game’s first warning shot, narrowly missing. Moments later, SCC Loutolim’s Samson Mascarnehas saw his goal-bound attempt denied by goalkeeper Karl Soares, who delivered a stellar performance throughout the match.
Don Bosco’s Cliff Barreto came close soon after, but the SCC Loutolim custodian Hilario Fernandes was alert. A powerful long-range effort by Cayvem Araujo in the 24th minute just missed the target, while Mascarnehas continued to threaten at the other end, only to be thwarted again by Soares. The first half ended goalless despite multiple clear chances.
The second half saw Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda turn up the pressure. In the 48th minute, Clencio Pinto tested Fernandes, who produced another fine save. Pinto had another opportunity minutes later but couldn't find the finish. Valito Miranda also came close in the 58th, only to be denied once more.
The breakthrough finally came in the 59th minute when Clive Miranda found the back of the net with a well-placed strike, handing Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda a well-earned lead.
Despite SCC Loutolim’s best efforts to draw level, Don Bosco's defence and their in-form keeper Soares held firm. The match ended 1-0, a result that reflected Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda’s sustained attacking momentum and composure under pressure.
It was a tightly contested affair, marked by impressive goalkeeping and relentless attacking intent, showcasing the high standard of football in the ongoing tournament.
