The GFA's Professional League witnessed a spectacular show down between Dempo Sports Club and Vasco Sports Club characterised by high-scoring dominance and exceptional individual performances .The Golden Eagle recorded a 6-0 win at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
From the opening whistle, Dempo stamped their authority dictating every moment of the game. Showcasing Dempo attacking intent, Aaron Baretto operated seamlessly as a striker proved to be a constant menace for the Vasco defense by employing skillful dribbles and creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities. In the 17th minute, Arnold Oliveira who made a brilliant run into the rival penalty box and clinically placed the ball past the Vasco goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh to break the deadlock.
The second half witnessed an onslaught from the Dempo strikers. In the 55th minute, Pratik Naik latched on to a through pass from his teammate before firing in to the net from inside the box to secure the third goal. In the 76th minute, Aaron Baretto slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 76th minute. In the 88th minute, Tongminsei Kipgen put his team beyond doubt. In the second half injury 90 plus two minutes, Topon Minj fired last nail into rival coffin.
This win puts Dempo back on top of the table with 25 points from 12 games, sending a powerful message to their rivals. Vasco, meanwhile, remain stuck on 10 points from 11 games, their title hopes seemingly fading.
