Desire and fighting spirit won us the match: Keenan Almeida

MARGAO

Goa coach Keenan Almeida expressed immense happiness after his team defeated hosts Karnataka in the 79th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy, at Bangalore Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Thanking the players for their efforts, Almeida praised the team’s fighting spirit and determination throughout the encounter. “The players showed tremendous fighting spirit. There was a strong desire among everyone to achieve this win,” he said.

He added that success would not have been possible without commitment and belief. “Without desire and fighting spirit, a team cannot achieve such a feat,” Almeida remarked.

Expressing satisfaction with the outcome, the Goa coach said, “I am very happy with the result. A win always makes everyone happy. The boys gave their heart on the field.”

However, Almeida also felt the team had the potential to perform even better. “Overall, I feel we could have done much better. There is a lot of potential in these players, and we need to believe in them and move forward,” he concluded.
