Vinod Dhamasker Cricket Academy, Margao emerged victorious in the Shahapur U-14 Trophy, winning the tournament based on a superior run rate. The team secured two convincing wins earlier but faced a closely fought challenge in their final match against Sunrisers Cricket Academy.
Sunrisers batted first and were all out for 159 runs in 39.3 overs. Arnav Joshi led the scoreboard with 19 runs, supported by Raj Kashid’s 18 and Shravan S.’s 12. However, Sunrisers conceded a hefty 59 runs in extras, which proved costly. Rehan Khan was the star bowler for Dhamasker, taking an astonishing 7 wickets for just 2 runs. Other bowlers who contributed to the innings included Rehan Hubali, Shourya Patil, Chetan Lamani, Yug Yadav, Svanik Lotlikar, Zaman Chavan, and Parth Sankpal, all chipping in with key wickets.
In response, Dhamasker Cricket Academy comfortably chased down the target, scoring 147 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 34.5 overs. Yug Yadav top-scored with 45 runs, while Rehan Hubali added a valuable 32. Aishwarya Tiwari and Parth Sankpal also contributed with 12 and 10 runs respectively. On the bowling front for Sunrisers, Arnav Patil impressed with 4 wickets for 17 runs, supported by Tanmay Patil’s 2 wickets and Veer Katwani’s 2 wickets, while Ayyan Attar and Nandan Belnekar took a wicket each.
Yug Yadav was named Player of the Series for his outstanding all-round performance. The Best Bowler award went to Svanik Lotlikar, and Yash Naik was adjudged the Best Wicketkeeper, all hailing from Dhamasker Cricket Academy.
The trophies and prizes were handed out by the chief guest, Dr. Abhijit Koran, owner of Sunrise Hospital, Kolhapur, at the closing ceremony.
