Dicarpale Sports Club edged out Chandor Club 5-3 via tie-breaker to win the 20th Bro Eulalio Vas Memorial football tournament, organised at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda on Sunday.
The final was postponed due to the restrictions imposed after the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the State.
The first half was an end-to-end contest, with both sides creating plenty of chances. Agnelo Colaco scored first with a snap shot but Richard cancelled the goal.
The second half turned livelier as both the teams went in search of a match-winner. Dicarpale went ahead through a Joel Colaco strike but with time ruñning out, Chandor equalised through Richard.
In the penalty shootout, William Colaco, Milton Colaco and Stendly Miranda found the mark for Dicarpale, while only Moses D'Sa converted for Chandor Club. Dicarpale Sports Club were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while Chandor Club had to settle for a prize of Rs 20,000.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Bro Frank Braganza, Fr Kinley D'Cruz, Anthony Pango (vice-president of GFA, South Goa), Anthony Leo Fernandes (Sarpanch of Colva), Cosme Olveira, Anthony Barbosa, and Fr Ralino de Souza, Director of Don Bosco Oratory.
