MARGAO
This year’s 3x3 Basketball Festival, organised by Don Bosco Fatorda in collaboration with the South District Basketball Association, turned out to be an exciting and action-packed event.
Spanning three days, the tournament saw nearly 50 teams competing across the U-12, U-14, and U-16 categories. Alongside local teams from Margao, Fatorda, Siolim, Panjim, Porvorim, Calangute, and Arpora, the event also featured teams from Telangana, adding a new level of competition and excitement.
After two days of fierce competition in the league stages, Sunday’s semi-finals and finals were packed with thrilling matches. In the U-12 Girls final, Don Bosco Fatorda (Costa Constructions) triumphed over Sharda Mandir Panjim with a 10-5 victory, and Eva Mascharenhas was named MVP.
In the U-12 Boys final, Don Bosco Fatorda Grey edged out Don Bosco Panjim 4-2 in a closely contested match, with Kurth D’Silva earning the MVP title.
The U-14 Girls final was an all-Don Bosco Fatorda affair, where Don Bosco Fatorda Grey defeated Don Bosco (The Goan Kitchen) 9-5. Sarah Albuquerque was named MVP for her standout performance.
The U-14 Boys final saw the visiting team from Telangana dominate, as they outplayed Don Bosco Panjim with an 11-4 victory. Prajivin Anthony was awarded MVP in this category.
In the U-16 Girls final, Don Bosco Fatorda (Seasons) emerged victorious, topping their pool and going undefeated throughout the tournament. Sharda Mandir Panjim were the runners-up. Sanya Da Costa was the top scorer and MVP of the category.
Finally, in the U-16 Boys final, Don Bosco Fatorda (Seasons) defeated Euronation 13-5 in a commanding performance. The Don Bosco boys used their superior speed and skills to outmaneuver their taller opponents, with Sean Fernandes earning MVP honors.
Fr. Ralin D’Souza, Rector of Don Bosco Fatorda, and Vice-President of the Basketball Federation of India, along with other dignitaries, expressed their gratitude during the vote of thanks. He thanked the many private and corporate sponsors who supported the event and, along with the other guests, presented the prizes to the winning teams.
