Don Bosco High School, Tuem, won Pernem Taluka U-17 girls football championship organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, defeating RD Khalap High School, Mandrem 3-2 via tiebreaker at Mandrem ground.
The match was tied 2-2 at the end of the regulation time. In the tiebreaker, Sanjana, Emilia and Jasmine were on target for the winners. Earlier in the tournament, Don Bosco girls defeated New English High School, Kerim 3-2 in the quarterfinals and trounced St Joseph School, Pernem 1-0 in the semifinals.
Bosco girls will now play at the north district level tournament. The photo above shows Don Bosco squad along with Headmaster Fr Jonathan Ribeiro, TSO Arjun Gadekar, PE teacher Stany Lobo and other officials.
Chandor dump St Rock
Chandor Club humbled St Rock YC Majorda 3-1 and and moved into the quarterfinal of the Gold Silver Rolling Trophy at Our Lady of Rosary church ground' Navelim on Monday.
It was Mark Fernandes of Chandor who orchestrated the move from the midfield, sending a long ball to Alreach Piexito, who at once took a power-packed shot and made it 1-0 in the first minute itself. Striker Kevin Almeida's of Majorda striker move was thwarted by Chandor's Anthony Rodrigues.
Irfan Lal of Majorda missed chances to score in the 12th and 23rd minutes. Chandor further inflated the lead through Valentineo Carvalho and substitute Vcitorino Fernandes in the 37th and 43rd minutes respectively. Oscar Braganza pulled a goal back for Majorda in the 58th minute.
Don Bosco thrash Cuncolim Union 6-0
Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda routed Cuncolim Union 6-0 to enter the semifinals of the Fatima Trophy inter village football tournament organised by Dicarpale SC at Dicarpale ground on Monday.
Hanslum Furtado of Fatorda was the star of the match as he struck thrice. Daulat Dessai of Cuncolim Union missed a chance to score in the 2nd minute. Maxwell Furtado of Fatorda opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Hanslum then netted three quick goals in the 12th, 14th and 39th respectively. Hanslum netted one more goal for Fatorda (5-0) and made it 5-0. With just six minutes left for the final whistle, Ainsley Araujo of Fatorda too recorded his name of the scoresheet and made it 6-0.
St Michael thrash enter quarterfinal
St Michael Veterans made short work of Pele Veterans Nuvem 5-2 and moved into the quaterfinal of the St Michael Veterans Cup football tournament organised by St Michael Boys at Orlim church ground.
St Michael Veterans took the lead early in the 6th minute through Alcino Almeida. Minutes later, Nuvem equalised through a spot kick taken by Marcus after a handball in the D area. Late in the first half Nuvem made it 2-1 through Nazareth.
St Michael Orlim dominated the second half with Alcino scoring a brace in the 48th and 59th minutes, Alister of St Micheal Orlim made it 4-2 in the 61st and Henry of Orlim adding one to make it 5-2.
