Confident Goa would be first TB-free State in India: BJP

MARGAO

Bharatiya Janata Party State president Sadanand Tanavade has expressed confidence that Goa would be the first TB-free State in the county with the party adopting TB patients in the State.

With Goa having a population of around 1350 TB patients, Tanavade said Goa would be TB-free before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to make the country TB-free by 2025.

Tanavade was speaking at the BJP Sewa Fortnight organized at the Ravindra Bhavan Margao on Monday in the presence of MLAs Digambar Kamat, Ulhas Tuenkar, former MLA Damu Naik and party workers.

Saying that party workers in Goa have positively responded to the PM’s call to adopt TB patients in their respective areas to ensure the country is made TB-free by 2025, Tanavade said out of the total 1250 TB patients, the party has approached 800 with their consent.

The BJP State president also lauded the Prime Minister for his bold initiative during the pandemic, wherein he not only made the vaccines available but offered them free of cost.
