Residents cry foul over odour emanating from nullah in Margao

MARGAO

With residents crying foul over the obnoxious odour emanating from the water body, a team of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) is expected to inspect the stormwater nullah passing by the Sirvodem-Calconda traffic junction in Margao.

Sources pointed out that the residents have knocked on the doors of the pollution control board to ascertain the nature of the odour - whether the foul smell is a result of sewage disposal or disposal of some chemicals into the water body.

A resident pointed out that it’s not just the foul smell that is emanating from the nullah, but one can sense the smell of chemicals discharged into the water channel.

“We have complained to the pollution control board to find out whether the odour is due to the sewage discharge or some chemicals,” a resident pointed out, fearing that the situation, if unchecked, may result in a health hazard.
