The Goa University inter-collegiate badminton championship 2024-2025 for men and women was held at SAG Indoor Stadium, Campal, recently.
S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira won both titles.
In the women's finals, S. S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira defeated Goa College of Pharmacy 2-1. Riya Haldankar defeated Muskan Sharma 21-4, 21-6 in the first singles. Manjushri Raut defeated Malaikar Lobo 21-13, 21-8 in the second singles. In the deciding doubles match Riya Haldankar & Malaika Lobo defeated Manjushi Raut & Muskan Sharma 21-11, 21-12.
In the well-contested men's finals, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira defeated Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim-Goa 3-0. In the first singles, Yash Gokarnakar defeated Mohammad Zain Sayed 21-14, 21-7. Rudra Fadte
defeated Abhishek Swami 21-14, 21-8 in the second singles.
In the double, Aryaman Saraf & Rudra Fadte defeated Atharv Surlikar & Atharva Pednekar 21-7, 21-5.
Best player of the championship Men was shared between Abhishek Swami of Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim and Rudra Fadte of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira.
Best player of the championship Women was awarded Manjushri Raut of Goa College of
Pharmacy.
Chief Guest Dr. G. Shaber Ali, Principal of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar and Guest of Honor Prof. Manoj Kamat, Principal, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira and Shri. Roy Athide, Badminton Coach, Sports Authority of Goa along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-ups during the presentation ceremony.
