Dempo Sports Club's central midfielder Ariston Costa said the club's 'first step' is to qualify for the I-League after spending club couple of years Dempo is currently playing the I League 2 qualifiers
Ariston’s remarkable journey is a testament to dedication, passion, and the unwavering support of his mentors, family and community.
"For us the first step is now to get into the I-League. We have a good team, and we haven't had such a kind of a team for long," Naik told the Goan Everyday .
"I have been playing football since childhood and I have a dream of playing for the national side and making the country proud," Costa said ahead of their do or die contest away match against United Sports Club Kolkata.
Dempo need the three winning points to keep their hopes alive.
"We know how competitive the tournament can be. But as much as Dempo will be as well prepared, other teams will also be going for glory," said Costa.
The 25-year-old continues to develop his skills and footballing abilities coupled with valuable life lessons that go beyond the pitch.
Reflecting on his early days, Ariston shared, “He [Samir Naik) showed me the basics of football and more than that he showed me how to be more focused in my life. Under the guidance of my current coach, Samir Naik I am now representing my club Dempo Sports Club in the I League-2,” he said.
"With the second division qualifiers in progress, we have been working on the players' mental strength and teamwork under head coach Samir Naik which will see them communicate better in all departments." he added.
Ariston also expressed his gratitude towards the Dempo SC management for nurturing his talent.
However, he reserves a special place of gratitude for his family who stood by him through thick and thin. “I am thankful to my father and mother,” he expressed with heartfelt appreciation.
