Fr. Agnel Cultural Club Paroda secured a place in the semifinals of the Mount Carmel Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament after a dramatic 4-3 win in a tie-breaker against CRCC Chinchinim at Rosary Ground, Navelim. The tournament is organised by Carmel Sports Club in association with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both sides putting up a strong fight throughout regulation time, which ended 1-1. CRCC Chinchinim struck first in the 11th minute through Sherio Gomes, who calmly converted to give his team an early lead. However, Fr. Agnel Paroda responded in the 34th minute when Midday Menezes found the equaliser to bring his side back into the contest.
Despite several attempts from both teams in the second half, neither side managed to break the deadlock, forcing the match into a tie-breaker. In the shootout, Fr. Agnel Paroda kept their composure under pressure and converted crucial chances to edge out CRCC Chinchinim 4-3 and book their semifinal spot.
Liven Climente of Fr. Agnel Paroda was adjudged Man of the Match for his standout performance, receiving the award from event promoter Walter Cabral.
