Fr Agnelo SC Paroda registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Shiroda Youth Club to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Curtorim Villagers Cup 2025, organized by Curtorim Gymkhana and played at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
The match had an early twist when Fr Agnelo Paroda were awarded a penalty in the 13th minute, following a handball by Shiroda defender Kevil Dias. However, Drenzil Vaz failed to convert, sending his effort wide of the post.
Redemption came quickly, as Godwin Fernandes put Fr Agnelo Paroda ahead in the 15th minute, giving his side a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Shiroda Youth Club came back strongly after the break and found the equalizer in the 40th minute through Vaibhav Naik, making it 1-1.
With both teams pushing for the winner, it was Fr Agnelo Paroda who struck the decisive blow in the 55th minute, when Joy Fernandes found the back of the net to seal the 2-1 win.
Godwin Fernandes of Fr Agnelo Paroda was adjudged Man of the Match, presented by Carmo Antonio Fernandes, former goalkeeper of Curtorim Gymkhana.
