Tejas Shevde, Rahul Singh, and Suraj Bikkannavar are through to the quarterfinals of the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2022 tennis championships being played at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias courts, Miramar and at Panjim Gymkhana.
In the men's singles, four-time champion and last year's finalist, Tejas blanked fellow Goan, Rajaram Kundaikar 6-0 to book a place in the last-8. Rahul beat Mano Chhabra 6-1, while Suraj Bikkannavar registered a 6-3 win against Ankit Batheja to step into the quarterfinals.
The ladies' singles action saw a good contest between Nishica Gomes and Tanishka Deshpande. Nishica won 6-3 to march into the quarterfinals. In another match, Nicole da Silva proved too good for Rukun Kaul, as she romped into the quarters with a 6-0 victory.
Over in the men's doubles, Rajaram Kundaikar and Santosh Gorawar beat Adarsh M/Jaiwin Ranjit 6-4 to make it to the last-8 stage. In the mixed-doubles category, Aman Bundela and Wynona Godinho registered a dominant 6-0 win against Werner Fernandes /Nicole Da Silva to storm into the quarterfinals. Shivam Bapat and Kamakshi Shanbhag had to dig deep in the tie-breaker for a 7-6(5) victory over Kafil Kadvekar /Ritika Dawalkar for a place in the last-8 stage.
