GFA hails Tejas for being named AIFF's Best Referee

Goa Football Association (GFA) referee Tejas Nagvenkar has been awarded the AIFF award for the Best Referee 2020-2021.

GFA president Churchill Alemao congratulated Nagvenkar for being recognised as the best referee in India. “It has made us very proud. It is a big recognition, reminding one of the talent, hard work, perseverance displayed by Tejas in order to get the hard-earned success,” Alemao said.

Gregory de Souza, chairman of Referees & Assistant Referees Committee of GFA, praised Nagvenkar, stating that it was a big honour for Goa. “Tejas deserves commendation for his meritorious services rendered in the field of football,” De Souza said.

Mauricio Almeida and Franky Fernandes, deputy chairman of the committee and head of referees, also congratulated Nagvenkar, who they pointed out is the lone FIFA badge referee in Goa now. 

“It is a proud moment for Goan football and all members of the committee also hailed Tejas for being bestowed with the prestigious award. It is a reward for refereeing well done which will surely inspire our referees to discharge their duties with sheer dedication, passion and determination,” they said.
