A delegation from the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) including president Ralph de Sousa, Srinivas Dempo, Pratima Dhond, Manoj Caculo, Chandrakant Gawas and Kishore Shah visited the Raj Bhavan to meet the newly appointed Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai. The delegation briefed the activities of GCCI and the current challenges that the State industries are facing.
“The Governor was impressed by the work GCCI’s women’s wing was doing,” shared Pratima Dhond.
GCCI president De Sousa briefed on the mining closure issue and the pandemic impact on tourism as well as other industries. The delegation apprised the Governor of its recent intervention to solve the issues faced by the trading community and its request to the CCP for a concession on taxes and levies during the pandemic period when the establishments were shut, and this was accepted by the CCP. Impressed with the structure of the 15 subcommittees addressing various sectors in Goa, the Governor showed eagerness to visit the secretariat of the chamber and was invited for a visit.
