Goa got the better of Mizoram with a 2-0 victory in the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand on Saturday.
Fayeez Mohammad opened the scoring in the 40th minute, capitalising on a through ball from Clencio Pinto. Goa goalkeeper Akshat Hadankar played a crucial role, pulling off some exceptional saves to keep his team in the lead.
In the second half, Goa continued to assert dominance, and Clencio Pinto sealed the win with a goal in the 55th minute.
After the match, Coach Charles Dias expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“I’m very pleased with the result against Mizoram. The players showed great improvement, addressing many of the mistakes made in previous matches. Everyone performed well, and the team played an excellent game. I’m proud of the effort they put in,” said Dias. “Our players trained hard and delivered the results we were aiming for, especially considering the strength of the teams in our group.”
