We greatly appreciate that road works on MDR-10 and MDR-6 in Siolim have finally begun after a long delay. The people of Siolim are eager to see the roads completed with proper attention to pedestrian safety and smooth, safe driving for all road users, especially tourists who travel along this key route in the north coastal belt.
Residents of Siolim request the installation of proper traffic signboards, clear speed limits, and safety measures for pedestrians, particularly senior citizens and students who walk along these roads. Footpaths should be provided, or if that’s not possible, proper barricades along the road shoulders should be installed to prevent accidents. This is important as many two-wheeler riders tend to overtake from the left without considering pedestrian safety.Hit-and-run cases are increasing across Goa, making it crucial to install traffic signal lights at zebra crossings near schools to ensure the safety of students. Additionally, the road divider from the Old Theatre Junction to the Church Junction should be painted clearly or fitted with single barricades to prevent rash driving. We also request that PWD engineers share the road development plans with Panchayat committees before starting the work. The RTO, Traffic Police, and Village Road Safety Committee should also be involved to ensure all safety measures are properly implemented.
