Rising drug cases raise concerns in State

Goa Police have ramped up their crackdown on illegal drugs, conducting multiple raids across the State to curb the rising drug menace. The latest operation took place on Friday, January 31, in Madani-Parra, where Mapusa police seized cannabis worth Rs 3 lakh.

A few days before this raid, Calangute Police had arrested a suspect, John Antonio Lopez, in connection with drug possession. The police confiscated 4.6 grams of heroin worth Rs 46,000 from him. This operation was led by PSI Akshay Parsekar and is part of the larger effort to dismantle drug distribution networks operating in the state.
Goa, known for its vibrant tourism industry, has been grappling with drug-related issues for years. The easy availability of narcotics poses a significant challenge to law enforcement agencies. The recent surge in anti-drug operations indicates the police’s commitment to making Goa a safer destination for residents and tourists alike. With continued efforts and strict enforcement, the Goa Police aim to curb the drug trade and ensure a safer environment for all.
