Goa confident ahead of Khelo India Beach Games

MARGAO

Goa coach and Arjuna Awardee Bruno Coutinho expressed confidence in his beach soccer team ahead of the Khelo India Beach Games, citing strong team chemistry, experience, and adaptability across different playing surfaces.

Despite receiving last-minute intimation about the event, Coutinho said his squad of eight experienced players has trained intensively and is aiming for improved performance.

A former India football team captain, Coutinho has been closely associated with beach soccer and believes Goa’s coastal advantage gives his team an edge over inland competitors. He highlighted the strong bond among players, many of whom have played together for years, as a key factor in the team’s success.

Speaking to The Goan Everyday during a training session on Ghoghla Beach, Coutinho said, “We are extremely happy with the training session. It has given us new hope and confidence for the upcoming games.”

Goa’s beach soccer teams have consistently performed well nationally, and Coutinho expects the squad’s talent, adaptability, and experience to make them strong contenders in the Khelo India Beach Games.
