Goa women suffer heavy defeat

Goa faced a crushing 9-wicket defeat against a strong Bengal side in the U-23 Women's T20 Elite Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. The match was played at the Lady Amritbai Daga College Ground in Nagpur.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Goa managed to score only 100 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Harshita Yadav top-scored with a determined 44 runs off 52 balls, hitting seven boundaries. Tanisha Gaikwad contributed 20, and Athashree Shivarkar added 15 runs.

Indian international Titas Sadhu, representing Bengal, bowled economically, claiming 1 wicket for 21 runs. Bengal's bowling attack was led by Sushmita Ganguly and Prativa Mandi, who picked up two wickets each, maintaining tight control over Goa's scoring.

Chasing a target of 101, Bengal cruised to victory in just 10.2 overs. After opener Sushmita Paul fell early, Sujata Dey played a commanding knock of 63* off 30 balls, while Piyali Ghosh remained unbeaten on 33 off 28 balls, guiding Bengal to an emphatic win.

Goa will play their next match on Thursday, November 27, at the VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur.
