Goan Hockey felicitated three coaches and three umpires during its 10th annual general body meeting held recently at Majorda. The officials were honoured for their good performance in the examination conducted by Hockey India.
The coaches were Joaquina Mascarenhas, Melchior Alemao and Aviraj Madgaonkar, while the umpires were Inacio Fernandes, Ayyaz Khan and Gaurav K Singh. The coaches and umpires were felicitated at the hands of chief guest Nelly Rodrigues (ZP member, Colva constituency) and Anjulo P Fernandes (Secretary, AA de MUC).
Goan Hockey said the astroturf ground at Peddem Sports Complex will be inaugurated shortly once an MoU is signed between the State government and Goan Hockey. At the other ground at Fatorda, the work is in progress in full swing and it will be ready for the National Games to be held in 2021. Also, a full-fledged hockey academy will be established at the Fatorda ground.
