The Goan Sports Club UK successfully hosted the Goan Carrom Cup 2025 at the Social Sports Bar in Hounslow, bringing together members of the Goan community from across the United Kingdom for an exciting day of sport and fellowship.
The event celebrated the unity and diversity of Goans living in the UK, with enthusiastic participation from young and old alike, including members of Hindu, Muslim, and Christian backgrounds.
This year’s tournament featured 24 players in the singles category and 12 teams in the doubles, making for lively and closely contested matches. In the singles, Rose Rebello emerged as the champion, while Khader Xec finished as runner-up. The doubles category saw John D’cunha and Elroy Carvalho clinch the title, with Rose Rebello and Myron Fernandes finishing in second place.
Prizes were presented to the winners by Malcolm Silveira, who praised the Goan Sports Club UK for their efforts in keeping the Goan spirit alive through sports and community gatherings. Significantly, this tournament also marked the fifth event organised by the Goan Sports Club UK. within just one year of its inception, underlining the club’s growing role as a platform for uniting Goans in the diaspora.
The tournament was not only a display of skill and competition but also a celebration of togetherness, cultural pride, and the vibrant Goan identity in London.
