Sporting Clube de Goa coach Savio Vaz has revealed he exhorted his players to clinch the Goa Professional League title as a tribute to late owner Peter Vaz, who passed away after contracting Covid-19.
“I told my boys in the training sessions that anyhow we must win the title. It will be a perfect tribute to our late boss Peter Vaz,” the coach said.
“The boys did let me down and I am very proud of these players. Winning the title during the pandemic is a great achievement,” Vaz said of his side, which won the league by staying unbeaten.
“The unity and togetherness within the team is our core strength. The boys always have stood by each other, helping one another to collectively improve as a team and move forward.”
