MARGAO
Kerala Blasters assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed has great expectations from new recruit Anil Gaonkar after watching the midfielder in action for Vasco Sports Club in the Goa Pro League.
“Gaonkar is technically superior to several of his peers and has a great positional sense and reading of the game. He is good with his pinpoint crosses from the left and also has the confidence to go for the goal at the right moment,” Ahmed said.
A product of Guardian Angel Sports Club, Gaonkar joined Penha de Franca and earned them a promotion in the Goa Pro League but did not participate in the league. He went on to don the colours of Vasco SC. He also featured in the State Under-19 National Football Championship in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I will work extremely hard to be more involved in the coming seasons and deliver for the Yellow Army. We can’t take anything for granted in football. It will be a fresh start.
“I am elated to further strengthen my bond with the Kerala Blasters faithful, and I along with the team do hope to bring joy to them in the coming times. This is an extremely challenging period for all of us, and I only hope they are all safe and doing well,” Gaonkar said.
