Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Sunday said that the State government was taking all necessary steps to carry out "massive development" in the State and that it was time for people to ponder and judge what is good and bad for the larger interest of Goa and Goans.
Godinho speaking during the function to celebrate the 60th Liberation day organised by Dy Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mormugao at Chicalim Panchayat Ground also said that social media was being misused for unwarranted criticism and that people must not fall prey to attempts made to misguide people by outside parties on eve of assembly elections.
"Today, some portray that there is a crisis in the society and there is no consensus on the most positive things happening for the progress of the state. We have made a lot of progress and we are being feted from national agencies as the best performing and best-governed small State and an award for protecting Goa's environment. Social media is a tool for human development and betterment of society but is being misused for unwarranted criticism through posts and comments," said Godinho.
Godinho said that Goa could not have achieved such massive infrastructure development without the support of the Centre, terming it as the double-engine government.
"Narendra Modi was declared as the PM candidate from Goa and he has a special bonding with Goa and hence we get a lot of financial support to take up massive infrastructure development. We have excelled in all the aspects despite the pandemic and got initiatives Sarkar Tumchya Daari, Swayampurna Mitra, etc, to resolve issues on the spot. Our BDO Prasiddh Naik and Chicalim Sarpanch Seby Pereira will recieve an Award at the hands of PM Narendra Modi for the best panchayat. We will have a new step to increase tourism in the state and there will be two viewing towers with restaurant, art gallery, the fast elevator at the new Zuari Bridge build on levels of the Eiffel tower in Paris," said Godinho.
"Many outside parties are trying to misguide the people on the eve of assembly elections and promising things that are not prevalent in their own states and Goans must not fall prey to such tactics and must not support parties known for political violence and we are confident that Goans will re-elect the performing Government.
"Goans are peaceful people it is time for us to ponder and judge after analysing all aspects of the level of politics by other parties who profess hatred and violence. Some parties have indulged in bringing people from West Bengal to Goa and we are not sure if they are infiltrated Bangladeshis . Another party is proclaiming of giving us health infrastructure while he himself could not save lives during pandemic till Amit Shah stepped in and both these parties have no love for Goa," said Godinho.
