Mathias Panaji Run 2026 to be held on March 1

PANAJI

The Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town will organise the Mathias Panaji Run 2026 on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the SAG Sports Complex, Campal, Panaji, with the flag-off scheduled at 6.30 am.

The event will feature a 10 km timed run, with winners declared across all categories, a 5 km fun run/walk offering attractive prizes for participants of all age groups, and a special 1 km walk involving NAB Goa students and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), promoting inclusivity through sport.

Cash prizes worth ₹1 lakh will be awarded. This year’s theme, “Live Life in Colour,” has been chosen in view of the approaching festival of colours, encouraging participants to celebrate fitness, joy, and togetherness.

Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Gauresh Nayak, President, Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town, said the Mathias Panaji Run 2026 is much more than a competitive sporting event. “With our theme ‘Live Life in Colour’, and the festival of Holi approaching, we want Goa to celebrate not just colours, but the values of health, unity, inclusivity and joy. This run is about spirit and community, where everyone”irrespective of age or ability”feels valued and included,” he said. Nayak added that proceeds from the event will directly support Rotary’s flagship initiatives in education, healthcare, disability support, sanitation and medical aid, reinforcing the club’s commitment to meaningful community service.

Event Coordinator Ann Sheetal Pai Kane expressed confidence that the event, now in its second edition, will witness participation of nearly 2,000 runners. She said the decision to organise the run in the heart of Panaji was taken to encourage greater participation from Ponjékars. “The run is not only for runners but also for families and friends who want to come out, cheer, and be part of the experience,” she added.

Urging citizens to participate, Gajanan Karkare, Secretary, Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town, said, “I appeal to people to come and run”not only for good health, but also to support Rotary’s social causes that continue to impact lives across Goa.”

Rtn. Sunil Pai Kane, Project Director of the event, was also present at the media briefing, which took place in Panaji on Tuesday evening.

Registrations for the Mathias Panaji Run 2026 are open online at www.panajirun.org.
