Rajveer Patil of Mata Secondary School emerged as the champion of the 4th Late T.S. Rangarajan Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament held at Regina Mundi School, Chicalim.
Rishit Gawas from PMS Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Vasco secured second place, while Aarav Chopedekar from NCS Chicalim finished as second runner-up. Erwin Albuquerque secured fourth place and Sholk Mesta finished fifth. Players placed from sixth to tenth were Rudra Nagarsekar, Sidh Rane, Chaitanya Patil, Shanvi Redkar and Arthav Shirodakar.
Winners in age category boys were U-7: Ojas Kamat and Pranav Manjrekar, U-9: Pradhyam Malvankar and Aarav Nagueshkar, U-11: Shresth Ghonsekar and Tanush Rane, U-13: Rhys Carvalho and Vipul Kadam
Winners in Age category Girls: U-7: Srisha Mesta and Anushree Dessai U-9: Shreesha Ghadi and Aaradhya Dessai, U-11: Aadhya Mesta and Ghonge Drisha, U-13: Aarna Sawant and Anvi Parab.
The tournament witnessed a participation of 113 players representing various schools from Mormugao Taluka. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Kishor Bandekar and Mukund Kambli.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Sujan Sukhtankar, President MTCA; Mukesh Adhia, Treasurer; Deepak Gawas, Secretary; Mukund Kambli, Tournament Director; Kishor Bandekar, Former AICF Treasurer & Former Secretary GCA; Balakrishnan Podwal, Member GCA; Pushpashil Satardekar, Joint Secretary; Datta Kambli, Chief Arbiter; and Avijit Ray, Coach, Centenary Club.
The Champion School Award was won by St Joseph School, Vasco, while Naval Children School, Chicalim received the best School Representation Award.
