MARGAO: MLT PDK Kings beat Mapusa Dream Crushers by 24 runs in the Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series Cricket at Arlem Cricket ground.
The match reduced to 18 overs per side. Electing to bat, MLT PDK Kings, playing without their regular skipper Sumiran Amonkar, lost 2 quick wickets in the pursuit of runs to be pegged at 49-2 in 6 overs. That didn’t seem to deter Viraj Puranik who smashed 55 in only 25 balls with 4 x 4s and 5 x 6s at a strike rate of 220.
Some useful contributions from Ved Mahambrey 23 and Sarin Pai Kane 28 helped the MLT PDK Kings to take control of the match with the south paw Pratham Kossambe smashing 41 not out in 24 balls, propelling the score to 174-6 in 18 overs. For Mapusa Dream Crushers, Sarvesh Kamat, Pankaj Naik, Neel Netravalkar, Megh Netravalkar and Raghuvir Gharse picked a wicket apiece.
Chasing 175 for win in 18 overs, Mapusa Dream Crushers started on a promising note putting on 70-3 in 9 overs through Sarvesh Kamat 18, Neel Netravalkar 33 and Raghuvir Gharse 14. A 4 th wicket partnership of 50 runs in only 29 balls between their skipper Pankaj Naik 32 and Smit Dalvi 30 helped Mapusa Dream Crushers stay in contention of the chase.
However some good bowling at the death by the left arm spinner Animesh Prabhugaonkar prevented any late heroics from the lower middle order as Mapusa Dream Crushers finished at 150/9 in 18 overs, giving the MLT PDK Kings a 24 run win. Animesh Prabhugaonkar with 3-19 was the pick of the bowlers and received good support from Ved Mahambrey 2-21, Mihir Gaitonde 2-28, Pratham Kossambe 1-20 and Viraj Puranik 1-32. Viraj Puranik was awarded the Desserts n More Man of the Match medal and the Estilo Moderno Realty Man of the Match trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 2000 for his brilliant all round display for the MLT PDK Kings. The presentation was done by Sanjay Netravalkar, Siddesh Sinai Amonkar, Vibhav Pai and Nagnath Shanbhag in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
