Morjim Veterans prevailed over Chinchinim veterans 5-3 via the tiebreaker and moved into the quarter final of the
Candolim Veterans football tournament organised by Candolim Veterans at Dr Gustavo Monteiro Candolim ground on Tuesday.
Bharat Morje, goalkeeper of Morjim veterans, was at his best under the bar while Mathew Pereira of Chinchinim Veterans gave his best with some power-packed shots.
It was Mathew Pereira of Chinchinim Veterans who netted the first goal of the match in the 5th minute off Antonio Pereira’s pass, but it didn’t take long for Morjim Veterans to equalise through Anthony Fernandes.
In the tie-breaker, Morjim Veterans netted through Narendra Gad, John Fernandes, Nicholas Fernandes and Anthony Fernandes and for Chinchinim Veterans Anthony Pereira and Inacio Cardozo were on target. Morjim veterans will meet the winners of the match between Quepem veterans and Nuvem veterans on March 30.
