The 37th National Games in Goa turned out to be a launching pad for many a promising Goan sportspersons and the same was the case for 15-year-old Breann Vaz.
Having successfully donned the state colours in basketball and tested her skills, pitted as they were against the best of the country players, Breann has set her goals at a much higher level and representing the country is one of the many things on her sporting wish list.
"I want to represent our country so that we can compete at the highest level," said Breann, who represented the hosts at the multi sports discipline event.
The chance to represent the hosts came her way thanks to her sterling performance at the state level basketball tournament.
Breann was one of the most impressive players in the entire competition and managed to increase her averages per game. “We know what to expect from the other states and how they play their game. It gave us a great experience,” she said about her playing at home in front of friends, parents and families.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of the parents has kept been excelling in sports in various others games and last year she was the captain of the school basketball team and came up with some outstanding performance.
Her stellar sporting show at the school level did not go unnoticed as she was adjudged the sportswoman of 2022-23.
“My school Fatima Convent High School, Margao helped in laying the foundation for basketball and it is where I got to form the grass root lessons of the game and then carried the game on when I enrolled in Damodar Higher Secondary School,” Breann added.
