Nishant Shenai, Arjun Bhagat, Yash Desai and Devansh Sakpal stormed into the Men’s Singles semifinals, while in the Women’s Singles, Janhavi Mahale, Sufiya Shaikh, Anjana Kumari and Shreya Mehta completed the last-four lineup at the ongoing BPS State Badminton Ranking Tournament 2025. The event, organised by BPS Sports Club, Margao in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, continued to showcase thrilling performances and impressive form from Goa’s leading shuttlers at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim.
In the Men’s Singles quarterfinals, top seed Nishant Shenai ousted Rutav Kanabar 21-16, 21-6, while Yash Desai fought past Aswin Mannambalath in a three-game thriller 21-15, 19-21, 21-14.
Third seed Devansh Sakpal overcame Soham Naik 18-21, 21-17, 21-19 and Arjun Bhagat, seeded second, registered a solid 21-18, 21-10 win over Anuj Vernekar. In the Women’s section, top seed Janhavi Mahale cruised past Aditi Chodankar 21-1, 21-3; third seed Sufiya Shaikh downed Riya Haldankar 21-10, 21-15; fourth seed Anjana Kumari edged Ritika Chelluri 23-21, 11-21, 21-6; and Shreya Mehta prevailed over Anaya Kamat 21-11, 21-19.
The doubles categories too witnessed top-notch badminton and several upsets. In Men’s Doubles, the pairs of Arjun & Tejan Fallary, Aswin Mannambalath & Shaheen C.K., Aryaman Saraf & Rudra Phadte, and Ayaan Shaikh & Mayank Raj advanced with straight-game wins. Mixed Doubles saw Mayank Raj & Yasmin Sayed (3) overcome Aswin & Riya Haldankar 23-21, 21-16; Rudra Phadte & Minoshka Pereira topple second seeds Sanath & Anaya Kamat 21-15, 21-15; Shaheen C.K. & Ritika Chelluri stun top seeds Ayaan Shaikh & Janhavi Virnodkar 21-13, 21-8; and Aryaman Saraf & Sufiya Shaikh defeat Amey Desai & Saba Shaikh 21-10, 21-16.
