After the completion of the sixth round of the 38th National Under-13 Chess Championship 2025, both the Open and Girls’ sections remain tightly contested, with multiple players sharing the lead and promising intense battles ahead.
In the Open Section, four players currently share the top spot with 5.5 points each: Siddhanth Poonja, CM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma, Badole Shaunak, and Shaurya Chaudhary.
The top board clash saw CM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (2187) draw against Maharashtra’s Badole Shaunak (2086) in a tense King’s Indian Attack. Meanwhile, top seed Siddhanth Poonja (2215) of Karnataka secured a win over Gujarat’s Shubh Atha (1881) in the English Opening on board two.
West Bengal’s Ankit Das (1971) managed a draw against higher-rated Arush A (2105) of Kerala on board three, while Delhi’s Shaurya Chaudhary (1938) outplayed Rajasthan’s Paarshva Parmar (1992) in the Sicilian Defence on the fourth board. The fifth board ended in a draw between West Bengal’s Aahil Patra (1912) and Andhra Pradesh’s Aadithya R (1799) in the Sicilian Four Knights.
Among Goan participants, Maxwell Raposo (1806) impressed with a victory over higher-rated West Bengal player Sagnik Dutta (1970). Aaryavrat Rasiket Naik Desai (1758) faced a tough challenge but lost to CM Advik Amit Agrawal (2175) of Maharashtra. Vihaan Tari (1698) and Rajveer Patil (1695) also put up notable performances, with Rajveer defeating Telangana’s Ishaan Kandi (1818).
In the Girls’ Section, Andhra Pradesh’s Sravyasree Bheemarasetty (1978) leads with a perfect 6 points after a commanding win over Karnataka’s WCM Pratitee Bordoloi (2035) in the Ruy Lopez on the top board.
Second board action featured Arpita Patankar (1846) drawing against top seed WCM Aamuktha Guntaka (2102) of Andhra Pradesh in the Catalan Opening. Telangana’s WCM Modipalli Deekshitha (1934) scored a victory over West Bengal’s Maitreyi Mondal (1883) in the Grünfeld Defence on the third board.
On the fourth board, WFM Saranya Devi Narahari (1869) of Telangana triumphed over Maharashtra’s Mysha Perwez (1815) in the Ruy Lopez. The fifth board ended in a draw between Andhra Pradesh’s WCM Sri Darshini T (1843) and Telangana’s Sasi Hasini Chintala (1845) in the Anglo-English line.
Among Goan girls, Diya Digamber Sawal (1586) recorded a win against Tamil Nadu’s Juana Hyacinth G (1456), while Lyia Marysil Silveira (1495) secured a notable victory over higher-rated Karnataka player Rajeswari Aiyappan (1664). However, Skyla Rodrigues (1544) was defeated by Karnataka’s WCM Aadya Gowda (1847).
