Prudent Media emerge victorious

Prudent Media defeated Times of India by 25 runs to emerge champs of the inter-media limited overs cricket tournament, organised by Sports Jounalists’ Association (SJAG) in association with Sports Authority of Goa and Goa Cricket Association, at Sanguem Cricket Academy ground .

Winning the toss and elected to bat, Prudent Media posted 100 for 5 in allotted 10 overs with Laxman Gawandi top scored with 62 in 32 balls. In reply, Times of India scored 75-6 in 10 overs.

The winners and runners-up received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively besides trophies.

Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldesai was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Rohan Gauns Dessai, Secretary of Goa Cricket Association in the presence of Rajesh Menon-Group Editor of Times of India, Rajtilak Naik “ President of Goa Union of Journalists, Pramod Acharya-Group Editor Prudent Media, Mahesh Gaonkar- President of Sports Journalists Association of Goa.

Score in brief : Prudent Media, 100-5 in 10 overs (Laxman Gawande 62, Shailes 10. Rohan Srivastava 2, Prasad Patil and Roy Barreto 1 wkt each) beat Times of India, 75-6 in 10 overs (Prasad Patil 35*, Gopi Kalwar 10. Avinash Joshi 3-10, Pawan Zantye 2-12).

Individual prizes: best batsman & Man of the tournament- Prasad Patil (Times of India), Man of the final “ Laxman Gawande (Prudent Media), best wicketkeeper “ Abhijeet Jadhav (Prudent Media), best bowler “ Avinash Joshi (Prudent Media), best catch of the final- Rajesh Menon (Times of India), Most discipline team: Tarun Bharat.
