Geno FC edge past Vasco SC; Calangute Assn hold Sesa FA

Geno FC secured a 2-1 win against Vasco Sports Club in the GFA Goa Professional League, at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex, on Saturday.

All the goals came in the first half.

The match kicked off with Geno asserting early dominance and creating opportunities that tested the Vasco Club defense. At the other end, Vasco Sports Club exhibited staunch defence.

The breakthrough came in the sixth minute as Prajay Gawde played a masterful long ball over Vasco defensive line. Chaitan Komarpant seized the opportunity, displaying remarkable speed to elude a rival defender and loft the ball over the oncoming keeper, giving Geno FC a well-earned 1-0 lead.

Spurred by the early success, they tormented the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Geno FC defence fired well but the rival goalkeeper with came to his side's rescue with superb saves. Geno FC doubled the lead in the 34th minute when Abbhay Yadav fired home off Chaitan Komarpant's assist.

Down by 2-0 ,Vasco Club displayed their fighting spirit launching determined attacks but the Geno FC defence held firm, thwarting their efforts to restrict the score.

Vasco Sports Club reduced the margin at the stroke of the lemon break when striker Lalnunzama bulged the net.

The second half witnessed a reinvigorated Vasco side that initially defended resolutely before gaining confidence and initiating their own offensive sequences. Geno FC had scoring chances but their forwards wasted from hand shaking distance.

At Benaulim, Sesa FA had taken the lead through Sankhalp Kankonkar in the first half while Joywin Carniero made it 1-1 for Calangute in the dying minutes of the game.

In GFA 2nd Div League, Fr. Agnelo YSC secured a 3-0 win over Our Lady of Gloria SC.

In GFA 3rd Div League, Rising Star SC beat CAC Cansaulim 3-1.

In GFA U-15 Div I, South Goa United trounced Vasco SC 17-0. Salgaocar FC and Dempo SC played out a goalless draw.
