Govt making efforts to get political quota for STs in 2027 polls: Gaude

Sports Minister and tribal leader Govind Gaude on Saturday said the State government is making all efforts to get the political reservations for the Scheduled Tribes of Goa in the 2027 Assembly election.

Speaking to 'The Goan' on the sidelines of the programme organised by the Salcete Tribal Forum at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to honour and felicitate him for organising the mega National Games event in Goa, Gaude said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has taken a personal interest to fulfil the demand of the ST community for the political reservations for the STs.

“The Goa government is serious about getting the long-pending demand of the ST community fulfilled. The government is in touch with the Centre. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is taking a personal interest in the matter. We are confident that our efforts will bear fruit and the ST community will get the benefit of political reservations in the 2027 Assembly election,” Gaude said.

Earlier, while speaking at the felicitation function, the Sports Minister attributed to teamwork behind the success of the National Games in Goa.

“Even the Almighty was fully behind the team that burnt midnight oil for the success of the National Games. It was indeed a teamwork that was behind the successful conduct of the National Games,” he added.
