Raia Sporting Club blanked Chandor Club 5-0 to move into the final of the 49th Custodio Memorial Trophy football tournament organised by Raia Sporting at Village Panchayat ground, Raia on Sunday.
The Raia Sporting coach Pele Xavier gave extra task to Lloyd Cardozo and Danny Fernandes to control the midfield as well as the forward line and his plan worked well. Sunny Fernandes, the striker of Chandor, should have netted in the second minute itself but Joswel Cardozo of Raia blocked the former's shot.
Lloyd Cardozo netted the first goal of the match with a placement shot in the 6th minute. Chandor striker Moises D'Sa missed the target by a whisker in the 18th minute. Danny Fernandes then netted a hat-trick, scoring in the 44th, 56th and 68th minutes to made it 4-0 for Raia Sporting.
Lloyd scored his second to make it 5-0 for Raia Sporting in the 70th minute. The Man of the match award was presented to Danny Fernandes of Raia Sporting at the hands of Fr Ronny Fernandes, assistant parish priest of Our Lady of Snows Church, Raia.
