Rising Stars won the 1st Honda Hockey Premier League organised by Pilar Fathers' Sports For Youth Development, Goa Province, held recently at Honda Panchayat Ground, Honda.
Four teams were seen in action in the 9-a-side tournament. The speciality of the tournament was that each team consisted of both boys and girls. The four teams were Elite Warriors, Stars of India, Stars of Honda, and Rising Stars, and each team consisted of 15 players.
The following were the results in the tournament, by virtue of which Elite Warriors and Rising Stars qualified for the final: Elite Warriors beat Stars of India 1-0, Stars of Honda beat Rising Stars 2-1, Stars of Honda and Stars of India drew 1-1, Rising Stars beat Elite Warriors 2-0, Rising Stars beat Stars of India 3-0, Elite Warriors beat Stars of Honda 2-1.
Elite Warriors and Rising Stars were locked 1-1 at the end of full time in the final, and the shootout saw Rising Stars getting the better of Elite Warriors 7-6. There was a special exhibition match between Morlem Girls and Honda Girls. Honda Girls won the match 2-1.
Shivdas Madkar, Sarpanch of Honda, was the chief guest for the final. Virendra Majik, Physical Education teacher of Vivida High School, Honda, and one of the first hockey players from Sattari, was the guest of honour.
