CAC Cansaulim drub St Anthony's 4-0
MARGAO: CAC Cansaulim drubbed St Anthony’s SC of Colva 4-0 to enter the quarterfinals of the Martin’s Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Betalbatim SC at Betalbatim Panchayat ground on Friday.
Agnelo D’Souza scored a brilliant hat-trick, scoring in the 12th, 23rd and 60th minutes while Elvino Fernandes added one goal to the team’s tally in the 30th minute. Agnelo D’Souza was adjudged as the Man of the match.
Fatorda Veterans move into semis
MARGAO: Fatorda Veterans defeated Vasco Veterans 4-2 to enter the semifinals of the Parra Veterans Cup football tournament played at PVC ground, Parra on Friday. Francis Andrade scored a hat-trick while Vincent Barbosa scored one goal for Fatorda Veterans. Franky Fernandes and Augustino Rodrigues were the scorers for Vasco Veterans.
Queens CCC rapid chess tourney from Dec 18
PANAJI: Queens Chess and Cultural Club under aegis of TTCA and Goa Ad Hoc Chess Committee is organizing its annual All Goa Liberation Cup Rapid Open Chess tournament from December 18-19 at Dr KB Hedgewar School, Cujira. Prizes worth Rs 35,000 and 45 trophies are at stake in the prestigious chess tournament that is held annually to coincide with the Goa Liberation Day.
IM Nitish Belurkar, Tanvi Hadkonkar, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Suyan Belurkar, Joy Kakodkar, Ekka Aniket and Love Kakodkar are amongst players who have confirmed their participation for the nine-round tournament. The entry fee is Rs 250. Free lunch will be provided to all the players. Fencing trials at Taleigao
PANAJI: The Goa Fencing Association will organise selection trials to pick fencers, both in men's and women's categories, at Durgawadi Panchayat Ground Taleigao, Panaji on December 10 from 3.30 pm onwards. The interested may report at the venue and contact the coach, Deepak Singh Rajput (8668505629 / 9545439041). The trials are to select the State fencers to participate at the 24th Sub-Junior (U-14) National Fencing Championship, from January 10-13 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi, Ernakulam, Kerala. The fencers must carry personal fencing swords, head gear and other related fencing attire/kit.
