Team SAG Campal put up a strong showing at the 1st All Goa Deadlift Competition organised by Al Raza Sports & Cultural Club and Mandrekar Fitness at Nandanvan Hall, Ponda, on Sunday, November 9, clinching the Masters Team Championship title. The team finished with an impressive 11 medals, comprising six gold, four silver and one bronze. The team was coached by Tanuj Kinalkar and Iram Khatri, with Pushpa Vishwakarma serving as team manager. In the Masters category, Luis Mascarenhas secured first place in the 56 kg category, while Shamita Sunil Santineskar claimed first place and the title of Heaviest Woman Lifter. Vishvesh Morajkar also bagged first place in the 100 kg category.

MCA open trials on Nov 12-13
MARGAO: The Margao Cricket Academy has announced open trials to select 30 young cricketers from South Goa for a year-long junior development programme. Boys born on or after September 1, 2012 are eligible. Trials will be held on November 12 and 13 at 3 pm at the KRC Ground, Margao, opposite the railway station. Players from Margao, Vasco, Ponda and all South Goa talukas may attend, while those from North Goa who missed earlier trials can also participate after declaring their residence. Experienced coaches will select 30 players to form two South Goa teams, joining two already chosen from the North. All four teams will play a round-robin tournament every Saturday and Sunday, with 40-over matches continuing through the year to ensure each player gets regular exposure. Lunch and transport will be provided free, supported by a Good Samaritan sponsor. One team will eventually be chosen to represent Goa in tournaments within and outside the State.

Salcete FC to mark 45 years with extensive prog
MARGAO: Salcete Football Club is commemorating its 45th anniversary throughout November with a packed schedule of youth-oriented football activities, seminars, and celebratory matches that underscore the club’s reputation as one of Goa’s leading talent nurseries. The festivities will begin with the Inter-Club U-14 Football Tournament on November 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, and 21, featuring eight prominent teams: Cortalim Villagers SC, Dempo Sports Club, South Goa United, FC Goa, Salgaocar FC, Salcete FC“CDS, Sesa Academy, and Sporting Clube de Goa.
On November 16, the spotlight will shift to the U-12 Inter-School Football Festival starting at 9 am, which will see participation from major school teams. The programme includes a seminar for football coaches on November 22, followed by the “Football for Fun” initiative, a special developmental activity for children aged 6 to 10 years and the U-12 Festival finals. On November 23, the U-14 final will be played, followed by the Salcete FC Veterans Match, and a closing ceremony at 7 pm.
