Salgaocar FC launched the 8th edition of their Community Outreach Programme for children aged 6-11 years on Sunday at the Chicalim Panchayat ground.
The programme saw a flood of registrations even after a break of two years due to Covid-19 pandemic. The dignitaries present for the launch were Salgaocar FC president Shivanand Salgaocar, Swati Salgaocar, vice-president, youth development, Salgaocar FC, general secretary Adlear D’cruz, Francisco Nunes, GFA executive member, Mormugao zone and head coach Levino Anthony Pereira.
On the occasion, Salgaocar said, “After a gap of two years, it’s good to see parents with their children on a Sunday which could easily be enjoyed at home. The support of the community and Chicalim Panchayat has made it possible for us to fulfill our vision of community building through football.”
Parents said that they were looking forward to the programme and were awaiting the beginning of the programme as the children were excited to be on the ground and enjoy the activities. Children were divided in groups on multiple small grounds to demonstrate various fun drills and basic football skills under the guidance of qualified coaches.
The programme will be conducted every Sunday till March 2023. There will also be information sessions on health and nutrition regularly held for parents by experts and specialists from SMRC’s VM Salgaocar Hospital, Chicalim.
