Salgaocar FC concluded its six-month-long Community Outreach Program (COP) 2023-24 with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Chicalim Panchayat ground, recently.
This annual event aims to nurture footballing talents in children aged 6 to 11 years from Mormugao Taluka, and this year saw the enthusiastic participation of more than 500 children.
The ground was abuzz with excitement as a large crowd, including participants, parents, 40 coaches and 20 volunteers. Gathered in a festive atmosphere.
Swati S. Salgaocar, Vice-President of Salgaocar Sports Club, kicked off the festivities emphasizing the club’s commitment to developing local talent through grassroots programs. She expressed gratitude to parents, school managements for encouraging children to participate and the Chicalim Panchayat for their support in hosting the COP.
All participating teams and individuals were awarded with medals, trophies and mementoes.
The highlight of the event was the felicitation of Loyola High School’s U-14 football team supported by Salgaocar FC, for their outstanding performance amongst the schools for the past 2 decades and for their prestigious victory in the Subroto Cup. The Salgaocar FC U-13 team, triumphant in the YFA Goa Winter Cup 2023, was also felicitated for their achievement.
Lector Mascarenhas, Ex-Asst. Commissioner of CGST (Goa) and GFA ex-General Secretary, Rev.Fr Basil Vago, Principal of Loyola High School, Bernardinho Velho, President of Benfica YC and other dignitaries were also present.
