MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem 4-2 in an exciting, fast-paced match at the United Trophy, organized by United Club of Telaulim, at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
Guardian Angel took an early lead, with Regan Costa scoring in the 6th minute, and they doubled their advantage in the 26th minute through Pravin Almeida. However, Areal’s Bersal Viegas pulled one back before halftime, making the score 2-1 in favor of Guardian Angel.
Areal came out for the second half with renewed energy and quickly took control of the match. Mohammad Mansoori equalized in the 35th minute, followed by Stalen Oliveira's goal in the 39th minute and Darryl Costa's strike in the 42nd minute. With a clinical finish, Areal outplayed Guardian Angel in all aspects, securing a 4-2 victory and booking their spot in the quarterfinals.
Rayman Fernandes of Sao Jose de Areal was named the Man of the Match by Sandip Tuyenkar.
