MARGAO: SC Virabhat marched into the next round of the 5th Cumborda Sports Club Football Tournament with a commanding 5-1 victory over St. Anthony SC at the St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
SC Virabhat took control early, with Velroy opening the scoring in just the 3rd minute. Jonas doubled the lead soon after, finishing off a well-timed assist from Ryce. Anslem added a third just before the halftime whistle to give Virabhat a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break.
St. Anthony SC came out with renewed energy in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded when Miller pulled one back in the 30th minute. However, hopes of a comeback were dashed when Vance extended Virabhat’s lead with a superb header, before Vivon sealed the result with a final strike, making it 5-1.
Despite the defeat, Ravi Vaz of St. Anthony SC was named Man of the Match for his standout individual performance.
