State midfielder Shridharnath Gawas is optimistic about the Sesa Football Academy’s prospects as they prepare for the I-League 3 playoffs in Naihati, West Bengal, starting September 26. Gawas, who plays for Sesa Football Academy, believes the squad has matured significantly and is ready to rise to the challenge.
“We’ve made considerable progress and the team is in good shape,” Gawas said. “Although there’s always room for improvement, we are taking things step-by-step.”
Gawas noted that the team’s development over time has been evident. “We’re more mature now compared to before. We understand what needs to be done and are approaching this with a grown-up attitude.”
Reflecting on their recent friendly matches, Gawas expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and emphasized that there’s still time for further preparation. “Playing in the Goa Santosh Trophy has also helped me improve my skills,” he added.
Gawas set a clear goal for the team: “Our aim is to reach the final and win it. We’re determined to achieve that,” he declared confidently.
When asked about his earlier statement on the team’s capabilities, Gawas clarified, “I meant exactly what I said. We are focused on winning, and we’re ready for the I-League 3 challenge.”
The 22-year-old central midfielder remains optimistic about the upcoming season. “Believe in us and keep supporting. We won’t let you down,” he assured.
Gawas, who was part of the Goa Santosh Trophy squad that finished as runners-up in Arunachal Pradesh, is confident in his team’s preparations. “Our training has been effective, and we’re ready to face our opponents. While they are strong, we are not intimidated. We are progressing step-by-step in the league.”
He emphasized the importance of teamwork, saying, “We trust our attacking abilities, but attacking alone isn’t enough. We must play as a cohesive unit. We created many opportunities in our first matches, and we will continue to work on scoring goals.”
Gawas also acknowledged that confidence alone isn’t sufficient to win matches. “We demonstrated integrated teamwork during our training. While we can’t claim we’ll win every match, we believe nothing is impossible.”
Looking ahead, Gawas’ continued success could pave the way for him to wear the senior India jersey. As the captain of Sesa Football Academy, he remains focused on leading his team to success.
